Substantial experience in project management with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies, principals and policies.

During my tenure within the Department of AAA, I managed complex and challenging projects. I applied both PMBOK and PRINCE2 methodologies across the project lifecycle specifically customised for the department, including training systems and processes, policies and procedures. As the Project Manager on a recent project involving the procurement and rollout of a new project management system across the department, I led a team of 10 staff and contractors in the design and customisation of the system. I negotiated extensively with the senior leadership group on viable design options; and external stakeholders to deliver on system change requirements, integration with other departmental systems and user training. I applied PMBOK’s principles: 10 knowledge areas from project integration management through to project stakeholder management. Requirements gathering area involved conferring with the department’s Director General, the Director of Strategy and Governance and Information Services and executives across all directorates. The human resource management (HRM) knowledge area involved sourcing and recruiting contractors, managing their day-to-day performance as well as those of internal staff; developing and designating job-specific requirements for staff and contractors; and continually monitoring task work to ensure the delivery of quality outputs. The risk management area included mitigating risk by consulting with external users of the system and with interagency Project Managers to gain their advice and knowledge on systems and service providers. As a result, the project management system was introduced and implemented on time, brought in at 10% under budget, and client satisfaction ratings increased by 200%.
