Sound knowledge of legislation relevant to Hospital and Health Services (HHS) in Queensland.

Since the implementation of the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 (the Act), there has been a significant shift in the relationships between the Department of Health and HHS and their perspective roles and responsibilities. The Act introduced an integrated health system in which HHS were established as statutory bodies with direct responsibility for the provision of public health services and accountable for their performance through a Board to the Minister for Health. Other legislation and frameworks which impact on HHS organisational policies, procedures and operations include Hospital and Health Boards Regulation 2012, My Health, Queensland’s Future: Advancing Health 2026 and Delivering a High Performing Health System for Queenslanders (Performance Framework). The Public Service Act 2008 highlights the requirement for high performing apolitical public service responsive to Government priorities and focused on service delivery. As a Senior Governance Officer, I applied section 54 of the Act to operations and authority of C-suite committees in which I coordinated and managed; namely, ‘providing tactical leadership and direction in relation to the delivery of Department of Health roles and functions under the Queensland Public Health System’.
